Jaysen Hebert - September 26, 2001
Krookedminds.com had the opportunity to chat with team rider Jaysen Hebert to find out a little information about the house of style in his own words. Jaysen was a big help with bringing the wakeboarding scene into his local area. His Cajun bass boat was not the best wakeboard boat in the world, but it served the purpose and helped get Krookedminds where it is today. Jaysen has also recently won the state championship in the Men's Intermediate division for the Louisiana INT League. He will be competing in the INT Nationals in Houston, TX October 10 - 13. If you would like to help support Jaysen on his journy to Houston, please go to the "contact us" section of the site and send us a message.

KM: What is your favorite trick to do at the present time?
JH: Big half cab shifty 180!
KM: What is your favorite trick to watch?
JH: My boy Kev’s doubleback off the double up! What makes it more enjoyable is Park’s does it halfcab… Kev does it regular landing switch! Other than that I have to say a really off-axis 3.
KM: How do you feel about the sport of wakeboarding at the present time?
JH: I feel it’s grown to an unspeakable level and will grow a lot further than anyone will expect…other than that keep it real!!
KM: What do you think you could do to help the sport grow in your area?
JH: Having the big team sticker on the side windows of my Tahoe helps me meet a lot of people who wonder about the sport. So just trying to go ride with these people and give them tips and talking with them helps a lot around here. Other than that, buying a boat to bring them in!
KM: What is your most memorable time wakeboarding?
JH: “The old days”…when it was a everyday of the week affair! Every single moment was a VERY MEMORABLE ONE ! But just to name one recently; it would have to be when I won my first tournament…I didn’t expect to win at all!
KM: Describe the perfect day of wakeboarding for you.
JH: Mild day, glass, good people and a prethala of beer!
KM: Who has influenced you the most in wakeboarding?
JH: Everyone I’ve ever meet one way or another. A special shout out to my boy Kev cuz he kept me in the game in the beginning and the rest of my team members for their support in my low times…
KM: How do you feel about yourself as a wakeboarder at the present time? What would you like to improve on?
JH: I feel I’m OK until someone comes up to me and says “Man that was a sweet run”! I need to improve on my confidence as far as riding and get the getting hurt factor out of my head… (Been through a lot of injuries with close friends.)
KM: We have recently found out that you use to have a sticker of your name sported on the drivers side window of your truck. Any comments about this?
JH: Dave made me do it in my former life…
KM: Who would you like to thank?
JH: First of all the man upstairs for making the wake possible, my girl Aja for putting up with me, my parents, grandparents, and family for supporting me all the way, all my team members of KROOKEDMINDS YA HEARD, Rukus Boardsports, The Southworth’s, The Munsons, all my wonderful friends, and all the great people I’ve met a long the way…IF I’VE MISSED ANYBODY,YOU’RE IN THERE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER..BELIEVE ME!D
Krookedminds.com would like to thank Jaysen for his time and for doing this interview with us. We wish him the best of luck in Houston and hopes he brings home a National Title. If you are ever see a white Chevy Tahoe with a ton of stickers on it (and a huge Krookedminds sticker on the side windows), roll up next to it and yell "bee beep".
