In an effort to try and make it look like this site gets updated more than once a year, I decided to just post some random things that are going on in Louisiana right now and maybe a few things that are actually about wakeboarding.
Skateboarding During The Winter
If you haven't been on the message board lately, then you probably haven't noticed how popular skateboarding is this winter among the Krookedminds.com community. It seems that everyone is dusting off their rides to help satisfy their cravings of having a board under their feet. If you are interested in making a local session or a trip to one of the nearby skate parks, check out the message board daily for people making plans.
I have personally made a trip to the Hammond skate park and the new skate park in Waveland Mississippi. The Hammond park was small, hence the name Small Time Skates, but has a nice fun box/pyramid section in the middle and some really nice quarter pipes along the front and back walls. Chip Smith and I went up there for a quick session on a week night. The Waveland park was off the chizzle! Seth Martin, Kevin LeBlanc, Chip Smith, Brian McBride and I all went up to Mississippi for a long afternoon session at Southcoast Xtreme Skate Park. Although I had to miss the Saints game (they lost to the Vikings anyway), it was definitely worth the trip. This park is really nice and has areas for skaters of all skill levels. We were all impressed by this place and can't wait to make a trip back. We also got a chance to meet the owner of the park who built it all just for his love of the sport. That is a great way to spend a few million dollars. We all made it out of there without getting hurt, so hopefully we will get to do it again soon. We have also heard from the North Louisiana crew that there is a new skate park in Monroe, LA. They will be hitting it soon and will report the details back to us. Now we don't have to turn the Southworth's drive way into a mini skate park when we visit over the winter.
Wakeboarding News And Gossip
We have been informed that our very own Kevin LeBlanc is pictured in a recent issue of Wakeboarding Magazine. Apparently, he is in an ad for Core Wakeboards. Congrats to Kev and we hope that this is a first of many more to come. The dude flat out rips.
Nautiques in Louisiana? We've heard rumors of Correct Craft dealerships opening in Louisiana, but nothing has been confirmed yet. That will be great for our area and I hope that the rumors are true. Although MasterCraft and Malibu have been doing a wonderful job in Louisiana, it is always nice to have more options. There is also a rumor that Bennett's Boat and Ski will be picking up American Skier (Elan) for the 2003 season. The more boats, the merrier!
There has also been rumors that the INT will be making a come back in Louisiana for the 2003 season. We have been asking about this since it popped up on the message board one day, but we haven't had any luck finding answers so far. The LWA may possibly be changing formats in 2003, so if the INT does return to our state, then those who are hardcore competitors may not be disappointed.
Louisiana Spring Fling will be pushed back this year to the month of May. This also has not been confirmed to us, but we have had several sources tell us that the dates have been set. We'll have the complete details on the site as soon as we know them for sure. If you would like to give your opinion on when Louisiana Spring Fling should take place, you can do so on the Wake Talk Message Board. Whenever it takes place, I know I can't wait for it to get here!
Wakeskating is definitely here to stay. Bump Films and Wakeskating.com have come together on their latest project. Bump Films is producing a wakeskating instructional video featuring the riding of Thomas Horrell, Brian Grubb, Aaron Reed. The video currently does not have a title and Bump Films has asked Wakeskating.com if we could let our visitors submit suggestions for titles. Other Random Babblings
In December of 2002, I got a new job at a company called Intercosmos Media Group. We own and operate the site DirectNIC.com. I will basically be doing web programming using the same programming language that I used on this site. The funny thing is that I started using that language after I started Krookedminds.com and became friends with Pat McCarthy at Wakeboarder.com. Pat introduced me to the language and showed me how to get started and I took it from there. I never thought it would become my career, but I apparently enjoy it. If you are ever in the Central Business District of New Orleans during the week, give me a call.
Christmas is right around the corner. I hope Santa Claus is good to everyone this year. I know I've been a good boy.
December made it five months that Summer and I have been married. It has been a wonderful 5 months!
Charles Reulet will be getting married in January.
Seth Martin has ventured into some new activities this off season. He now has a collection of remote control cars, he is getting a dog and he started going by the name XXX Flickmaster Jr. Don't ask because we really don't know.....
