LWA Fun Series Stop #5 - Results
The Louisiana Wakeboard Association finished out the Fun Series Tour with the final "State Championship" event. The event was held Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Lake Buelow, Alexandria.

The Lake Buelow event kicked off on a Friday with a "Learn To Ride Clinic" put on by the LWA. Many new people came out for an opportunity to learn how to wakeboard or to learn some new tricks. The clinic was a huge success and was actually a test run for some improvements in the LWA format for the 2003 season. Don't be surprised if you see more events such as the "Learn To Ride Clinic". In fact, that may possibly be replacing the competition format completely. We will have to wait until next year to see what the LWA Team and Jeff Southworth has in store for organized Louisiana Wakeboarding events. Krookedminds.com salutes Mr. Southworth for moving in this direction and we hope to see more events like the "Learn To Ride Clinic" in the future.

As for the competition side of the Buelow stop, it held the largest number of competitors for the entire 2002 Fun Series Tour. A lot of new faces were on the water showing off their skills in an LWA event for the last time in 2002. A few of these new faces even found their way to the podium at the awards ceremony.

Below are the standings for the fifth fun series event. Each rider is listed under the division that they rode in and in the place that they finished for the day. Also, the number after the riders name is the total number of points that the rider earned for the day.

Krookedminds.com would like to thank the Southworth Family for their dedication to the sport and for such a great season once again. Jeff, Robbie, Sarah, Kayla and Robert Southworth all put in many hours of hard work for the LWA to make sure that Louisiana has organized wakeboarding events for everyone to get together. The LWA was a great success this season and was a great method that many people used to meet other riders in the state of Louisiana. Thanks again to the Southworths for their hard work and dedication. Everyone is already talking about next season.
